BREAKING NEWS: READ ABOUT OUR GUESTS

So everone....I would like to think that I would sit down and write a nice little review of our first 2 days of shows in Connecticut. But when things happen to you like they happened to us yesterday, it's just hard to contain the excitement to BLURT OUT the most exciting part of the story...which happens towards the end. So I'm going to BLURT first, and then just fill in pictures and a few notes about the rest.
Yesterday, Sunday...January 15th...we were performing in Westport, Connecticut at the Westport Country Playhouse. It is a BEAUTIFUL facility - which is an old converted barn into this state-of-the-art 600-seat performance space. (Read more about it on their website.) This is a small regional theater that is well known for a lot of the shows they do - plus they get a LOT of big names from NYC to come up and do shows. Well, between shows the Assistant Artistic Director, Annie, came into the green room and was telling us how much she loved our show and how thrilled they were by it, and then she asked if we were ready to perform for the Big Cheese's at the 4:30pm show. She and her assistant rambled back and forth about them coming, and then they left and I started to put 2 and 2 together....realizing that they were talking about 2 of the big forces behind the Playhouse, Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman. That's right...you read that correctly. In remembering back, Paul Newman actually directed and starred in a production of "Our Town" at the WCP, and it moved to Broadway after that. They have a long history with the Playhouse.

Here is the Westport Country Playhouse.

SO long story short, they came - they brought their 2 grandsons, Henry and Peter - and the icing on the cake was that they came backstage to meet us all afterwards. And I can't even EXPRESS how....um...DELIGHTFUL they were. Henry and Peter were very talkative and Joanne was very happy with the show. Paul seemed to enjoy it, as well. It was just awesome to be able to talk to them and feel their excitement from the show. (AND - Joanne did note that Eric and I were very good dancers! High fives for us!) We had a nice visit with them all, OF COURSE we snapped some pictures, and we have been floating on the experience ever since.

and here we are...and here they are...and here we all are...and everyone is SMILING!

After that, what else is there to report? Our shows went well - the first days have been non-stop (4 shows in 2 days) - the weather has been crazy - we made it to NYC last night and into our sketchy hotel - and all is well.
Now everyone is off doing their own NYC-thing...and I'm getting ready to head out to meet my friend Stephen Mulcock from Boise, Idaho! We went to high school together and he and his brother live here in the city. We're doing a few fun things...a museum, dinner, a show of an Israeli mentalist. Fun things like that.
So that's it. The other stuff from the first few days will have to be told by picture below.
We met Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward...and they LIKED OUR SHOW! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Cheers from Flushing....

So here are the boys dressing rooms in New London....

And HERE are the girls. (Jen had her own downstairs, too...but I was too tired after 2 shows to climb the stairs...plus, the hallways smelled like rotten vegetables.....)

Here is the VENUE in New London - and then the 2nd picture is out the stage door...looking OVER to our hotel. HOW amazing is THAT? That is an example of PERFECT HOTEL PLACEMENT for touring.

And here is Chris - showing us on the map where we were looking for, in the dark, to see the old Naval Ships in New London. And here is Chris showing us the fence and sign that we found. BUT - we tried.....

Holy crap that is awesome! You know, I was watching the Golden Globes tonight (which Paul Newman won, as you now know, I'm sure) and was wondering where he and Joanne Woodward might be. And now I know that they were in Connecticut watching your show. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!! Congats on an amazing opening to the new leg of the tour. What a great way to start!

Did you go immediately to "Paul" and "Joanne" or were you polite for a few seconds and call them Mr. & Mrs???? And where is the rest of Jackie's chorus line for that dressing room? It did, indeed, make for an amazing start for the new year! An omen of good things to come????? WE HOPE!!!

Okay, I have been amazed at the things you have been able to do and the places you have been BUT the Newman/Woodward meeting and photog session take the cake. I can only imagine that prior to this, the most exciting event was the cast party "thing" where, what was it, 3 local people attended???? Not to mention meeting the towm Mayor!!! It just keeps getting better!! We are all excited for you and send lots of love from AZ!!!!
