Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-lington

HELLO from our last full day in Burlington! We had 2 school show's today - and both went well. The houses were full...the bubbles were slick (but no one fell)...the kids were into the show...and no Oompa-Loompa's face planted. All in all, a good days work! You WILL be happy to know that at the first show today, they had a drawing before the show for ONE school to win a tour of a local chocolate factor here in Burlington. The winning school was: Christ Our Savior Elementary! The announcer, this time, caught herself before it got too silly - by saying "..and the winner is....Christ Our Savior.....(long pause as she realizes what she said)...ELEMENTARY!"
Good catch, announcer lady.
The rest of the day was spent shopping, eating, movie-ing, sleeping, packing and doing our own thangs. PLUS - the day started with a snow storm, which actually amounted to 4 or 5 inches of accumulation...which made this nice little town even MORE beautiful.

Here is the whole cast...enjoying Burlington AND each other. Thank you, Mr. Amazing Self-Timer Camera!

A delightful statue on Church Street...depicting, very closely, a trick that Jill and I turn when we first enter the factory.

So now most of the major bags are packed - everyone is gearing up for bed - and we are all looking forward to heading to Philly tomorrow...for the amazing cheesesteak's that Eric has promised - AND to meet the ENTIRE Eric Thompson Family! Pictures are SURE to follow...and hopefully, some good stories, too.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!

So I wanted to get a pic of Jackie and Eric in the middle of Church Street...with the guy in the wheelchair close, so it looked like he was going to run them over. But it never actually happened...it just looked stupid. So here is (L) my attempt; and (R) the picture we were taking. (And don't even ASK me what they were doing....someone has been watching a LITTLE too much Napoleon Dynamite....)

L: Jackie, Andrew and I give our THUMB-REVIEW of our lunch experience at Ken's Pizza The Pub. (What kind of name is that ANYWAY?) Just a insiders-tip: AVOID the Canolli. R: Chris and Andrew loiter...not seeing the posted placard.

SALE DAY AT OLD NAVY! L: Chris and Andrew show off their party shirts. (Which were $2.97 and they STILL didn't purchase!) R: They show off their bags! (Notice Jill at the checkout in the background. WHAT a story this picture tells....wait! You can only see her hat and legs. But it's her, I promise....)

Check out THIS sweet ride! Just sitting there...unlocked and everything! It's a GOOD thing I'm a moral person. It could've TOTALLY fit on the van! PLUS - you can see, from the (R) picture that this bike belongs to a fellow ARTIST! I'm glad I didn't....

A DESSERT! This is from Sweetwaters, in Burlington. It's called CHOCOLATE ERUPTION - and although the BULK of the dessert is chocolate mousse - if you look at the CREAM colored chunks in the middle of the treat, you will notice chunks of CHEESECAKE "floating in the mousse". YETH PLEATH! Jackie and I took it upon ourselves to try the concoction, and we gave it a HIGH 8 on the MASE! I think MORE cheesecake and MORE cookie crust would've put it higher! And for complete understanding, I have included a picture of Jackie after eating the treat...which she said is conveying 'sweetest satisfaction...'

So this is a classic case of 'Great Desserts...Terrible Murals'. This is 1/2 the mural at Sweetwaters that we went to tonight. It was behind me while we ate, and Jackie examined it during dinner. There is a lot of NAKEDNESS, first of all. But then notice, in the first picture, at the bottom the monkey eating the watermelon. What? THEN, in the second picture, there is a man sitting by the column with like a Newsboy hat on. Above him, the dude in the pink t-shirt, is running off with a tambourine. And up in the TOP right corner of this is a 3-D waiter dancing. And the column - the COLUMN is ribbons...for some reason. And the white-ghost folks in #1? Weird. What you don't even get to see, because I didn't take pictures of it all, is: Tarzan holding a monkeys hand; 4 women playing harps in the park, and a myriad of other STRANGE things. Dessert? High 8 . Decor? Painful 2.

And finally - Church Street at night. It's real nice.

When I read what school had won the contest I started to get my tissues out because when "Our Savior" won the contest I was crying as I read the blog. I agree, I think the mural is a little strange. I'm glad you all are enjoying the snow, just glad you have it instead of us.

Wow, that mural is very disturbing, it looks like the monkey/gorilla is staring right out at you. I don't know if could have been able to eat with all of that going on. I'm also not very comfortable with whatever is going on with that naken woman in #2 and the elfen/faun creature. Sketchy.

Eric and Jackie's poses were great, I could tell that they were imagining that they were weightless, in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by tiny little seahorses.

Have a safe trip to Philly and enjoy those cheesesteaks, they are going to be magical.
