A Weekend In The Carolina's

So we finished up in Beaufort on Friday, and had 2 REALLY great audiences. The kids during the school show were a LOT of fun. We even had a little dancer in the very front, rockin' out to our Oompa Loompa songs! And between our shows on Friday, everyone did their own thing. Jill, Chris and I headed down to the marina area of Beaufort and took a carriage ride through historic Beaufort - hearing the history of the city and the homes and the area. It was a LOT of fun - and there were some AMAZING picture opportunities...which you can check out below.

Here we are at the venue...getting ready to hit the town, between shows.

The rest of the weekend was travel North (up to Wilkesboro, NC) and then hanging out. We got to Wilkesboro on Saturday afternoon, and then today, Sunday, we had the whole day off. The really nice thing about it is our tech staff, ALSO, had the day off. If any of you have seen our show and think that the cast works hard, triple that - and you'll understand how much and how hard our tech staff works. So our day off on Sunday, and the day off on Monday, are HUGE for all of us! And you can BET that, for the most part, most of us have NOTHING planned.

So there it is. One of the more boring entries...I WILL ADMIT IT...but hopefully a collection of good pictures from Beautiful Beaufort will make up for it! And even if it doesn't, build a bridge and just get over it already. :) And tune in TOMORROW, when I report on OUR cast meeting up with the cast of ANOTHER children's show touring the country...right here at our hotel in Wilkesboro! Good times abound!
HAPPY MONDAY!

Here we are, with Duke the horse and the lady who led the tour. She was nice, but I don't remember her name. Chris, Jill, Hoops, Yoyo and I had the backseat of the carriage and it was a kick!

These crazy kids. The sign means the tour guide and horse...but Hoops and Yoyo kept trying to convince everyone on the carriage that it referred to them and their jokes.

There really is NO telling when they are going to hop in a picture...here are a couple TOTALLY unexpected appearances.

Well, this is embarassing. This is a collection of some of my favorite homes on the tour. BUT - now that I have them all together, I notice a very WHITE theme among them all...except...you know...that one that isn't all white. REGARDLESS - there ARE homes of other colors in the Beaufort area. Trust me. But these are ones that either jumped out at me, or that didn't have a TERRIBLE tree right in the way. Some of these houses have some great stories that go along with them, too. But I will not tell them to you here.

This is another one of my favorite...white...houses. I love the gardens around this house. I think the plants and flowers are what make me love it so much! Spring is sprunging in Beaufort....

One of the many churches in the Beaufort area...along with the cemetary that surrounds it. There are some REALLY old graves in here. So...you know...that's cool and stuff....

A couple of interesting trees from around Beaufort. L: This is called the hanging tree...where it is suspected that locals used this tree to hang many a pirates back in the day. R: This tree was called the Angel Tree or something like that...in reference to the lower branches, which grow down first, and then hit the ground and grow up towards the angels in heaven...or something corny like that. But a cool tree, nonetheless.

A collection of other things seen along the way: Top L - A staircase...to nowhere. Evidently the house it once belonged to burned down. But the stairs remain. Top R: An egret...kickin' it in the marshy area. Bottom: A chandelier just hanging out (literally) in a tree long the way.

A selection of photos from the Matt Anderson B&W Collection: Beaufort 2006. Available at your local art shop. And here is a game: Find Jill in one of the photos. Fun, right?

And finally, a couple of funnies from my day around Beaufort. L: Um, could I combine them into one shake? Or am I going to have to choose? R: Do they NOT have people who have to APPROVE these things? WHY? WHY? WHY?

I'm glad that you enjoyed Beaufort. Dad Sizemore and I went there once but it was raining and we didn't see as much as we wanted. Enjoy your day off. We are anxiously awaiting your arrival in WV!
